New Zealands Peer to Peer sharing marketplace
ShareGear is an online peer to peer sharing marketplace where personal goods can be hired directly to and from other users. Sharegear is free to join, and it’s there are no costs to list items for Hire.
ShareGear is designed to solve three problems:
- There is only a limited range of gear available for hire in the market today. If you want to hire anything other than the standard industrial items stocked by hire centres (assuming there is even one nearby) there is nowhere to do so
- Across New Zealand people have valuable equipment that they own, in many cases sitting there gathering dust most of the time. Through ShareGear we want to unlock that value, and provide Owners with an opportunity to make money by hiring those items out
- By sharing, rather than individually purchasing, we can limit the waste generated by packaging and by disposal of used equipment. Plastic packaging can end up in our ocean and never disappears, and over 4 million tonnes of waste goes to landfills in our beautiful country every year

ShareGear is proudly 100% New Zealand owned and operated. We're a brand new startup and have big ambitions for making a difference for all New Zealanders. I created ShareGear because I have a bunch of gear that sits unused most of the time. Then when I need a tool/tent/kayak/whatever, If I go and buy one, it then also sits there gathering dust and taking up storage space. What a waste! Literally, because all that gear ends up in the dump eventually. I really hope that ShareGear helps you make some money from your assets, and for you to get access to great gear from your neighbours without needing to purchase it yourself.
